Leave the car behind: Lectric eBikes announces XPedition cargo bike
A new cargo ebike designed to help you get things done
Early last year I had the chance to test out the Lectric XP Lite ebike and I don’t think I have ever had so much fun riding an ebike before. It is very affordable at the $800 price, folds up for easy storage and transportation, looks great, and rides like a champ.
After testing the Lectric XP Lite, I spent some time with the XP 3.0 and it’s unique rear seat option.
Last week, Lectric eBikes announced the Lectric XPedition cargo ebike and we will soon have one here for testing. For years, I have been focused on commuting with ebikes and that is a perfect application for an ebike that looks like a standard bike. I moved on to trying ebikes on gravel roads and trails as well as folding models that support storage in small places or taking a bike along in a car trunk. The ebike sector continues to expand with accessible options such as trikes and further expansion into using ebikes to replace cars.
Levi Conlow, co-founder and CEO of Lectric eBikes, stated:
I’m so pumped to finally introduce our cargo e-bike to the market. When we started Lectric in 2019, we set out to be the Greatest Urban Transportation Solution Ever and to challenge the idea of transportation as we knew it. The XPedition, more so than its predecessors, truly challenges a car’s capabilities and provides electric functionality.
The Lectric XPedition is a cargo bike that is designed to move people or things around with extended cargo carrying capacity and space, dual battery options for longer range, trailer options for towing pets and gear, seating options for passengers, and more. People are discovering that a capable ebike can indeed reduce the need for an automobile, if the bike is designed properly and can be a reliable and safe transportation option.
Lectric eBikes is known for making affordable bikes that don’t compromise on capability. The XPedition is priced at $1,399 with a dual battery option for another $300. It is available only in the Fog Grey color scheme and is NOT a folding bike, although the handlebars fold down for easier storage. The price includes the Essentials Package with two seat cushions and two running boards for a rear passenger. There are many other accessories available, including a rear chair, pannier bags, cargo container, baskets, passenger handle, and more.
Key features of the Lectric XPedition include:
750W rear hub motor
Integrated rear rack with 300 pound capacity
Puncture-resistant 20-inch by 3-inch tires
48V lithium-ion battery
Hydraulic brakes
Large LCD display
Rear tire shielding
There are a lot more specifications and features we will cover in our full review after we get some time to test out the bike. I’m excited to head out on errands to the grocery store, barber, and more with just an ebike and look forward to real world testing. If you have anything specific that you want me to cover in the review, please leave a comment.
