Android 14 Beta 1 now available for the OnePlus 11 5G
Google I/O was held today and you can now get the latest version of Android to test on your OnePlus 11
One of the first reviews I posted on this Substack was for the OnePlus 11 5G and it continues to be a compelling phone option. My primary T-Mobile SIM jumps around between lots of phones so when I saw the news today that the Android 14 Beta 1 build was ready for the OnePlus 11 5G I jumped over to the OnePlus forum to find out how to get the beta installed.
Before you go off and install the new beta on your OnePlus 11 5G, be aware that this current build is intended for developers and other advanced users to test out apps and evaluate what will be coming to Android in the future. If the OnePlus 11 is your only, or primary, mobile phone then use caution since there could be instability and other bugs at this time.
Back in the day, I was hacking ROMs onto my devices left and right without much care in the world if I broke something or not. Thankfully, these beta builds have gotten more stable than the wild west of the past, but there could still be issues flashing the ROM on your phone.
There is also a list of known issues to check out before installing the beta build. That said, OnePlus states that the core themes of Android 14 are privacy, security, performance, developer productivity, and user customization. There is no list of what this update includes so I’ll just dive in and see what I can find.
