Amazfit Cheetah: AI-powered coach guides runners to success
A new affordable, powerful GPS sports watch focused on runners
Over the years, I have tested various Amazfit watches and have been impressed with the affordable prices, hardware build quality, and extensive features and functions found in the Zepp smartphone app. Today, Amazfit announced the Amazfit Cheetah, a GPS sports watch designed for runners.
The Amazfit Cheetah has dual-band GPS support with circularly polarized antennas that are built for optimal signal reception. Six satellite systems are supported and initial testing shows that the Cheetah provides very accurate GNSS tracking.
As I prepare for an upcoming trail running event, I used the Zepp Coach AI feature to set up a personalized training plan and will continue to use and test this functionality. Stay tuned for a full review of the Cheetah on ZDNET in July. It was interesting to go through an AI chat session to establish the boundaries of my training plan and then see the resulting plan.
If you are not following a training plan or you forget to hit Go when you start an exercise, the Amazfit Cheetah can auto-detect eight specific activities to track your movements. It can also auto-detech 25 strength exercises in the strength training sports mode. More than 150 activities are supported by the Amazfit Cheetah.
The Cheetah is a watch focused on runners and includes outdoor running, treadmill, triathlon, HIIT, and track run. The track run mode includes lane designations and is focused on making track running a seamless activity.
The fiber-reinforced polymer is light weight at just 32 grams with a comfortable, breathable strap. 5 ATM of water resistance is provided with a 1.39-inch 454x454 pixels AMOLED display. More than 100 watch faces are available with an always-on display supported via the settings.
Similar to Garmin’s morning report, Amazfit provides a morning update function that highlights the day ahead. This includes a weather forecast, calendar events, sleep results, watch battery life, and more.
The Amazfit Cheetah is available now for $229.99. It is designed to provide up to 14 days of battery life in typical use and 26 hours with GPS in accuracy mode.
